The Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Hakeem Jamiu got a resounding endorsement from his ward, Igbemo-Ekiti on Sunday, April 24, ward meeting to contest and return to the House of Assembly once again.
The people of Igbemo ward attested to the robust representation of Rt. Hon. Hakeem Jamiu at the Ekiti State House of Assembly in the last three years.
Speaking at the Ward meeting, Igbemo Ward Chairman, Chief Peter Akinsola, confirmed his achievements in the area of attracting government projects to the town, securing jobs for the indigenes of the town, and paying the counterpart funding for the N14m EKCSDA project in the town.
According to him, the Deputy Speaker was responsible for the restoration of electricity to six towns in the constituency after Nine months of a blackout, repair of over 25 boreholes across his constituency as well as ensuring that Igbemo indigenes brutalised in 2015 got justice before the Ekiti Judicial panel of enquiry into police brutality. The affected victims were awarded monetary compensation by the panel.
Also speaking at the meeting, the Women leader of the Ward, Mrs Funke Adeleye thanked Honourable Hakeem Jamiu for facilitating the rehabilitation of Iworoko- Igbemo road, Ilupeju- Ire- Igbemo- Ijan road, Ado-Afao road, Ado- Iworoko road and Esure- Eyio-Awo road.
She noted that his quality representation led to the citing of Ifedara LCDA Headquarters in Igbemo, citing of Area Education office in Igbemo Ekiti, medical support to indigent patients too numerous to mention.
In the same vein, one of the party leaders in the ward, Chief Sunday Ojumoola disclosed that Jamiu was responsible for the empowerment of youths across the constituency through Industrial Training Fund (ITF), sourcing of grants and aids for members of his constituency and other empowerment programmes.
According to him, the people of Igbemo ward mentioned many other good deeds of the Deputy Speaker to many individuals that he has forgotten and were very happy about his declaration to contest for the seat again. His declaration was greeted with songs and dancing, even as they tell him that the Igbemo people are happy with him and are solidly behind him in his quest to return to the House of Assembly.
Similarly, the Igbemo General Assembly (IGA), which is the umbrella body of Igbemo sons and daughters, home and abroad, had earlier written a letter of appreciation to the Deputy Speaker for contributing to the development of the town why the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Adewunmi Daramola last year rewarded him with the chieftaincy title of “Uyi Owa” (the pride of the king) of Igbemo land in recognition of his contributions to the development of the town.
Responding to the endorsement, the Deputy Speaker thanked the people of his ward and urged them to continue the vigorous campaign for the candidate of the APC in the June 18 gubernatorial election, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) who is sure to win the election.
