Honourable (Barrister) Omowumi Ogunlola of Ijero-Ekiti West and Efon Federal Constituency have gotten the nod of the First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi when commending the efforts of the Lawmaker for impacting positively on the lives of the people of her constituents.
The First Lady was lauding the lawmaker on Sunday, April 9, at the third edition of the Mega Empowerment programme organised by the lawmaker at Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State, south-west Nigeria.
Erelu Fayemi said Honourable Ogunlola showed an outstanding character of leadership with an apt representation of our constituency and the empowerment programmes have proven effective over the years.
Honourable Ogunlola displayed her benevolence to the women, widows, aged, traders, as well as the youths within the Ijero-Ekiti West and Efon Federal Constituency gifting items worth over 100 million Naira at the Empowerment program.
The items distributed by the lawmaker were an ICT Centre at Ijero Comprehensive High School, a Comprehensive Health Centre in Ejiyan-Ekiti, nine vehicles, five tricycles, 60 motorbikes, 100 sewing machines, 110 generating sets, 40 deep freezers, 15 wheelchairs, 47 grinding machines, 15 vulcanizing machines, 100 barbing kits, 6 rice processing machines, 5 cassava processing machines and cash gifts to hundreds of traders, widows and students.
Erelu Fayemi, in her speech, said the praises from the people of Ijero, King and the multitude seen at the program affirmed her competence and the confidence her constituents have in the leadership qualities of the Lawmaker.
“I must appreciate her for being a worthy ambassador of the womenfolk in political positions. Indeed, you have done well and I am very proud of you. We will keep saying we want women in positions of leadership, Hon. Ogunlola is a perfect example of what we mean.
Thank you very well for not disappointing me. With her sterling performance, more opportunities will be open for women. I will like to call on other members of the green chamber for them to do more for their people because Ogunlola has been a fantastic representative of the people”, Erelu Fayemi said.
Also gracing the occasion was his royal highness, the Owa Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti, Oba Joseph Adewole, who also spoke on behalf of all the traditional rulers in the area.
The Owa Ajero in his speech, urged the people and their leaders in the polity to ensure the return of Honourable Ogunlola to the House of Representatives as he testifies of her exceptional leadership qualities and her expressing how the Lawmaker’s presence is felt despite her busy schedule in the Green Chamber at the nation’s capital, Abuja, pointing out that the traditional rulers were rooting for her re-election for continuity with masses relishing the dividends of democracy.

“Evidence abounds for everybody to see that Omowumi’s tenure at the Green Chamber has completely witnessed a departure from stereotypical experience, acute neglect and poor representation of the people have had with their erstwhile representatives.
“So, without any equivocation, Omowumi has performed creditably well and such a great performer deserves a second term for a more purposeful representation of her constituents who are unanimous that her good work must continue,” the Oba Adewole said.
Also at the Empowerment Program was the Ekiti State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Paul Omotoso, who voiced his pride in the quality of effective representation Honourable Ogunlola has been offering her ingredients, adding that these have proven the implementation of people-centric programmes.
Omotoso said Ogunlola, beyond fulfilling his statutory expectation as a lawmaker, has put enduring smiles on the faces of constituents regardless of their political affinities through the enactment of people-centric policies, and modern skill-acquisition training and empowerment schemes.
Honourable Ogunlola said in her speech that she is committed to enhancing the well-being of members of his constituency, promising to facilitate more developmental projects that will have direct impacts on the lives of the people.
She called on constituents to reaffirm their various supports for the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led government and also vote for the APC flag bearer Biodun Oyebanji (BAO) at the upcoming governorship election on July 18 to enjoy more of the dividends and to ensure continuity.
