The Editorial Board and Management of the EKITI SUMMIT Media congratulates HRM Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade 1,the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti and the erstwhile Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Obas on the occasion of his Diamond Birthday Anniversary.
HRM Oba Adebanji Alabi was born on 24th August, 1961 at Iro Quarters in Ilawe Ekiti to the family of Late Prince Joseph and Marian Ajibade Alabi (Bade joyous) of the Afuntade Lineage of Oniwe Ruling House.

Ekiti from 1967 – 1972, Ode – Ekiti High School, Ode Ekiti 1973- 1977, University of Ife, Ile Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University) from 1981 –
1985, Foreign Service Academy, Lagos in 1987 and the Centre for Management Development, Lagos in 2002. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History, Certificate of Training in Foreign Relations and Certificate in Management Studies.
Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lagos in 1986 as a Foreign Service Officer and rose to the rank of Deputy Director in a Diplomatic Career spanning a period of twenty five years. Kabiyesi served in various Nigeria Missions abroad during his diplomatic career. He was Vice Consul at the Consulate General of Nigeria in Buea, Cameroun from 1992 – 1993 and Vice Consul at the Consulate of Nigeria – Douala, Cameroun in 1994. He served as a Minister at the High Commission of Nigeria – Kingston, Jamaica with concurrent accreditation to Belize, Haiti and the Dominican Republic from 2003 – 2007. He was serving as Minister and Head of the Economic desk at the High Commission of Nigeria in Pretoria, South Africa until his ascension to the throne in December 2011 as the 18th Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti.
Kabiyesi attended several seminars and conferences during his diplomatic career. Some of the notable ones were Conference on “Rural Development and Women Empowerment at the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in October 1998, International Seabed Authority (ISBA) session, Kingston, Jamaica May/June 2004 & 2005, General Assembly of the United Nations, New York, United States of America, September/November 2007 Seminar on Marketing Nigeria’s investment potentials, Washington DC United States of America, December 2007. Conference on “Ensuring Regional Security in Africa”, Luanda, Angola July 2010. Conference/Symposium “Finding a lasting solution to the crisis in Afghanistan, Berlin, Germany, October 2010 and Conference on Addressing the Menace of International Terrorism, Berlin, Germany December 2010.
Kabiyesi is happily married to Olori Abimbola Alabi and the marriage is blessed with children. The family is built on firm Christian doctrine.
HRM, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi was appointed as the Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers on 31st August 2019 by Governor John Kayode Fayemi. His appointment is for duration of two years and expired on July 31,2021. During his tenure as the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Council, Kabiyesi reinvigorated the Council, making it more potent and responsive to issues affecting the institution of Traditional Rulers in the State and Nigeria as a whole. The council under his leadership was more dynamic and playing advisory role to Ekiti State Government in the area of security, resolution of communal disputes and working towards political stability of Ekiti State.
