HRM the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji clocked 93 on Thursday, August 26.
Oba Adetunji is a custodian of cultural heritage who currently sits as the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan following the monarch’s coronation on Friday, March 4, 2016.
The monarch was born as the first of 17 children of Pa Raji Olayiwola and Madam Suwebat Amope Adetunji on Sunday, August 26, 1928 in Ibadan, Oyo State southwest Nigeria.
He grew up learning vocational jobs until he took up tailoring as a means of living after moving into Lagos the commercial city in the southwest of Nigeria. While working as a tailor, Oba Adetunji also delved into musical record marketing until in 1960s when he founded his first of three record label imprints called Baba Laje Records which housed notable fuji music acts including Dauda Epo-Akara and Wasiu Ayinde Marshall.
Prior to his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Adetunji was the Balogun of Ibadan land.
